Since mid-June, Boys & Girls Club of the Muskegon Lakeshore have been busy Kitchen242 with their reIMagINe summer food program. Thanks to the Michigan Department of Education SFSP, BGCML is able to prepare and served over 600 healthy meals a day to our youth in our BGCML reIMagINe camp. Through partnership with Michigan Works they had one teen from their workforce development program. In addition BGCML had two teens and one head chef who was Chef Damon. The staff would roll in to the kitchen at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday to start preparing the meals. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner meals were prepared, sometimes a cold meal and sometimes it was a delicious entre including grilled meat and veggies! They would work hard until 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. each day including making deliveries and then get a short break before having to deliver dinner meals. @Kitchen242 was extremely busy
this summer, we loved having all of this activity and it has been very quiet since they wrapped up the program last week. Think about the coordination and planning that it takes to make 600 healthy meals a day!
