How to Get Started:
Who Can Use Our Kitchen?
- Food Processors that are making a product to sell retail
- A commissary for food trucks and food carts
- Caterers
- Restaurants needing extra kitchen space for training or menu development
- Research & development small batch space for chefs, restaurants, food processors developing new products
Proper food licensing requirements will apply and must be obtained prior to use.

You will need these four things to get started:
1. A completed Kitchen 242 application. There is a $20 application fee.Kitchen Application Form
2. The cost of licensing will vary depending on what type of business you establish. You can find an explanation of licensing rules here. Michigan Dept. Agriculture Licensing
3. We will need a $50.00 security deposit made out to “City of Muskegon”.
4. Insurance: You will need to have a quote for a $1 million general liability policy, and name the “City of Muskegon” as co-insured. Consult your insurance agent to find out the cost. Most wholesalers and retailers you do business with will also require this. The policy must be in effect when you start working in our kitchen.
